A Master’s Year Navigating the Challenges
Some 50 wardens, masters and past masters gathered to share their experiences of life in the livery and specifically, navigating a year as a livery master.
Maria Chanmugam, chairman Judith Millidge and Julia Sibley chair of the Livery Committee discussed some of the highs and occasional lows that masters of livery companies may face. The sense of purpose and enthusiastic energy in the room was inspiring as hints and tips were shared:
- Plan rigorously in advance
- Communicate clearly and often with everyone from your clerk to the livery
- Check out your company’s workplace policies
- Remember that you are part of a team – delegate to wardens
- Enjoy the opportunities offered by a remarkable year!
